The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) edged Paraguay 2-1 in a fiercely contested friendly at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
Gio Reyna opened the scoring in the 4th minute, followed by Folarin Balogun’s strike in the 71st. Alex Arce pulled one back for Paraguay, but the hosts held on for the win.
Mauricio Pochettino’s new call-ups were a highlight, with Reyna returning to the squad and making an immediate impact.
Celentano, Kilisman, Tessmann and Morris were also key new contributors, bringing energy and creativity to the pitch.
Tessmann added depth and stability in midfield, rounding out a balanced performance.
The match was physically intense, with three USMNT players receiving yellow cards, while Paraguay saw three yellows and one red. Possession was fairly even, and both sides created chances—USMNT fired four shots on target, while Paraguay had three.
Overall, it was a promising outing for the USMNT, showcasing the potential of Pochettino’s new roster while offering Paraguay a stern challenge. Reyna’s performance, in particular, signaled that he is ready to be a central figure in the team’s future.
