Spanish forward Gonzalo García was the standout performer for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, delivering three crucial home points to prevent Barcelona from pulling further ahead at the top of the table. The Madrid side cruised to a 5–1 victory over Betis, powered by a decisive hat-trick from the academy product.
García found the net in the 20th, 50th, and 82nd minutes, while Raúl Asencio extended the lead in the 56th and Fran García sealed the rout in stoppage time (90+3). Betis’ lone goal came from Colombian striker Cucho Hernández, a former Columbus Crew player in MLS.
With the win, Real Madrid move into second place with 45 points, while Barcelona remain league leaders on 49 points after defeating Espanyol 3–1 on Saturday.
The three goals mark Gonzalo García’s first official LaLiga goals, as the 21-year-old Madrid-born striker emerges as a new attacking option for the squad and a player to watch for head coach Xavi Alonso.
