PSG defeats Atlético Madrid 4-0 at the legendary Rose Bowl in the Club World Cup

PSG cruised to a 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid today at the iconic Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, California, during the Club World Cup held in the United States.

The French side dominated the first half, controlling possession, creating danger, and scoring twice. Fabian found the net in the 19th minute, followed by Vitinha in first-half stoppage time (45’+1), both goals set up by Kvaratskhelia. Atlético managed just one shot on target and relied heavily on goalkeeper Jan Oblak to prevent a heavier defeat.

Atlético’s frustration was evident in a flurry of yellow cards for fouls and dissent: Lenglet (21’), Le Normand (25’), Giuliano (29’), Koke (48’), and Reinildo were all booked in a half that saw Diego Simeone’s team overwhelmed from start to finish.

Second Half

Coach “Cholo” Simeone made five substitutions in an attempt to change the tide. While Atlético improved their pressing and defensive organization, PSG remained in control. Atlético briefly thought they had reduced the deficit in the 59th minute with a goal from Julián “Spider” Álvarez, but VAR ruled it out.

Tensions escalated, and Lenglet was eventually sent off with a red card for dissent, leaving Atlético with ten men.

Oblak continued to stand tall, especially after a major error by Reinildo in the 82nd minute, as PSG lowered their tempo and Luis Enrique took the chance to rotate players.

PSG’s third goal came in the 87th minute after Antoine Griezmann lost possession, allowing Mayulo to pounce and seal the outcome. In the dying moments of the match, a penalty was awarded to PSG and converted by Kang-In Lee, finalizing the 4-0 scoreline in a match that had only one clear protagonist.
