Inter Miami’s coach, Javier Mascherano, and forward Luis Suárez stated during the post-match press conference following the game against Palmeiras, held today at Hard Rock Stadium, that facing PSG will not be easy, but they are ready to take on the Parisians.
“We knew no match would be easy, and we’re aware the next one won’t be either. There’s difficulty whether it’s against Botafogo or the latest Champions League winner like PSG—it’s going to be tough,” said striker Suárez.
“Matches have to be played 11 against 11, and we must compete in the best way possible and leave a good image of ourselves. In these kinds of tournaments, there are always favorites, and PSG is one of them, because of the class of their players and because they’re Champions League winners. We must try to take advantage of any opportunity we get,” the Uruguayan added.
Meanwhile, Inter’s coach, when asked by the press about “Las Garzas’” chances against PSG, was clear that both he and his team are motivated to face a side like the Parisian club.
“Many times, football gives the chance that when a team is inferior in terms of hierarchy, it can still compete and aspire to win. We’re not going to deny that PSG is the European champion; they have a brilliant team with strong depth,” highlighted the Argentine manager.
“It’s another chance to approach the match with the dream of achieving something historic. Hopefully, we rise to the occasion, and hopefully we have the kind of day you need to beat a team like PSG. What we are going to do is everything possible to compete with our weapons and deliver the best performance we can,” Mascherano concluded.
Inter Miami and PSG will face off next Sunday, June 29, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
