Seattle fell 2–1 to Botafogo today at Lumen Field, Seattle, Washington, in a match where the team showed positive signs, but despite their efforts, they were unable to equalize the score.
Botafogo’s goals were scored by Jair Paula (28’) and Igor Jesus (43’). Defensively, Adryelson was solid at the back, breaking up several Seattle attacks and providing leadership during the final minutes when Botafogo absorbed heavy pressure. It was a game that was balanced in ball possession and attacking opportunities.
Cristian Roldán scored for Seattle in the 75th minute. His goal energized the team, which played better during the final 20 minutes as Botafogo sat back and waited for the Americans’ attacks. Seattle tried to break through with wing play and long-range shots, but despite having more chances, the comeback didn’t materialize, and the match ended.
Seattle will face Atlético de Madrid on June 19, 2025, again at Lumen Field, as part of the group stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Cristian Roldán: He was the home team’s most influential player. In addition to scoring Seattle’s only goal in the 75th minute, he was active throughout the second half, creating danger through the middle and connecting well with the wingers. His goal gave the team life and fired up the fans in the final minutes.
Jordan Morris: Although he didn’t score, he was one of the most persistent attackers. He constantly looked for opportunities down the left flank, won several individual duels, and forced corners that put the Brazilian defense in trouble.
Albert Rusnák: He organized the midfield with precise passes and was key in the attacking transition. His vision and ability to change the pace of the game helped Seattle take control for much of the second half.
