At 33 years old, Son Heung-Min has become Los Angeles FC’s marquee signing of the season. The South Korean star, remembered for his brilliant spell at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, has proven that his quality remains untouched despite the passing years.
In just four appearances wearing the black and gold, Son has been a constant threat in the attacking third, not only with his finishing ability but also with his through balls and diagonal passes that slice open defenses.
In the recent clash against San Diego FC, the forward produced four clear shots on goal. Only the crossbar and several outstanding saves from the opposing goalkeeper prevented him from netting his first Major League Soccer goal in the BMO Stadium.
Even so, his attacking presence has already shown the impact he can make as a perfect complement to Nathan Ordaz and Denis Bouanga, thanks to his two-footed skill set and sharp vision of the game.
Expectations are sky-high at BMO Stadium. Son is not only expected to score goals, but also to become a luxury playmaker for LAFC’s forward line.
His versatility allows him to adapt seamlessly alongside different attacking partners, from Jeremy Ebobisse and Ordaz to Igor Jesús, Cristian “Chicho” Holm, or Mark Delgado. With 81 completed passes already, and one goal, he is shaping up as the team’s strategic playmaker.
The offensive future looks bright for LAFC with the Korean international leading the charge. Given consistency and time to fully adapt, Son Heung-Min will not only deliver results but also gift the Angelino fans with memorable moments, reaffirming his status as a Korean football icon and former Premier League star.
