Chelsea secured a narrow 2–0 win over LAFC in a low-intensity match at a nearly empty Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, as part of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The two goals of the night came from Pedro Neto in the first half, after a well-placed assist from Nicolas Jackson, and the second from Enzo Fernandez in the second half.

Chelsea’s Offensive Pattern Leading to Enzo Fernandez’s Goal (80’)

While Chelsea struggled to create clear scoring opportunities, they dominated possession throughout the match and showed signs of improvement in midfield play, especially after the introduction of Enzo Fernández. Still, their offensive output in front of the goal left much to be desired.
For LAFC, the match was marked by disruptions and missed chances. An early blow came in the 38th minute when Nathan Ordaz was forced off due to injury, replaced by David Martínez.
At the start of the second half, Olivier Giroud was brought in for Jeremy Ebobisse, providing some spark in attack, but it wasn’t enough to shift the momentum.
Denis Bouanga, usually a key attacking threat, had an off night. His trademark runs down the wings were mostly neutralized, and although he showed some flashes of danger late in the match, Chelsea’s backline kept him contained.
The match featured few clear chances on either side, with Chelsea’s control of the ball ultimately making the difference in a contest that lacked attacking fireworks.
