The USMNT thrashed Trinidad & Tobago 5-0 today in San Jose, California, in a Group D match of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2025.
The match, played in a half-empty PayPal Park stadium, generated a lot of excitement among the press and fans after the USMNT’s four straight losses. This included a desire to see which players Mauricio Pochettino would use and what tactical schemes he would implement on the field.
The USMNT goals were scored by Malik Tillman in the 16th and 41st minutes, Agyemang in the 44th minute, M. Aaronson in the 82nd minute, and Haji Wright in the 84th minute. But as the saying goes, “In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.” If we apply this to the national team’s opponent, the result leaves even more doubts and uncertainties because the Caribbean team is underperforming.
For this match, the USMNT had its best players in Diego Luna, who distributed the ball, and on the left and right flanks, the runs into the opposing half by Mcglynn and Arsften gave the United States’ attack a boost.
The team presented by Pochettino today was almost the same starting 11 that faced Turkey, with the only difference being that he made Ream the captain in defense.
