Atlético de Madrid, one of the favorites to win the newly expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, has officially arrived in Los Angeles, California.
The Spanish side will compete in Group B, where they will face opponents such as Egypt’s Al Ahly, MLS’s Seattle Sounders, and Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds.
Their goal is clear: to advance as group leaders and solidify their status as title contenders in this revamped international tournament format.
The team from Madrid landed in California today with an incomplete starting squad, as six key players — Julián Álvarez, Ángel Correa, Giuliano Simeone, Nahuel Molina, José María Giménez, and Rodrigo de Paul — are currently on international duty for World Cup qualifying matches.
The team held its first training session today at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which will serve as its training base during the tournament. The session, led by head coach Diego Simeone, included only 15 first-team players. However, Atlético announced on its official website that a total of 30 players have been called up for the Club World Cup.
