Malik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi, Sergiño Dest, and Richard Ledezma clinched the Dutch Eredivisie title with PSV today after a 3-1 victory over Sparta Rotterdam.
PSV’s triumph brings good news for the USMNT, as these four players could form a solid, well-structured core that coach Mauricio Pochettino could take advantage of.
To the delight of USMNT fans, defender Sergiño Dest played the full match, showing encouraging signs in his recovery from the serious knee injury that sidelined him for several months. He only managed to play seven matches in the Eredivisie this season and was ultimately ruled out of the Copa América hosted in the United States.
Sergiño Dest began his professional career at Ajax, where he made his senior debut in 2019 after progressing through the youth system. His standout performances earned him a move to FC Barcelona in 2020, making him the first American to score in a Clásico against Real Madrid.
He later had loan spells at AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven. Dest has been a key player for the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), contributing significantly in tournaments such as the CONCACAF Nations League and the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
