From the depths of the basement, the LA Galaxy awoke and managed to put on a good performance today against LAFC at home in Carson, California, ending in a 2-2 draw thanks to the inspiration of Brazilian Gabriel Pec and German Marco Reus.
Marco Reus scored the opening goal in the 7th minute, but the lead was short-lived as Dennis Bouanga equalized in the 13th minute to make it 1-1. Another goal by Nathan Ordaz in the 50th minute put LAFC ahead 2-1.
Just when it seemed the LA Galaxy would suffer another defeat, a brilliant run into the box by Gabriel Pec after a clever pass from Marco Reus resulted in a goal in the 79th minute to make it 2-2, but it was disallowed by the referee for offside.
LA Galaxy stood up to LAFC in the first half of the Angelino derby, backed by their loyal fans and a group of players who showed a clear intention to turn around their level of play and poor run of results.
LA Galaxy did not give up and kept pushing forward with offensive plays led by Pec, Reus, and Paintsil. The second goal came as a reward for Marco Reus in the 87th minute, as he beat Hugo Lloris with a free kick.
